§. 7.

It is finally proposed, subject to the approval of the authorities, that it might be advisable to allow the common people to construct one, or several, such birchbark boats in each county as an experiment, so that they could thereby obtain some information both about the way in which they are made and also their advantageous utilisation and thus be persuaded to produce these more than handy vessels themselves.
